Art of Fighting Returns to Jacksonville

X1029 is proud to support Art of Fighting (AOF) 15 coming to the Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday, May 11th. This epic event features 15 professional mixed martial arts bouts.

Headlining the card is AOF veteran and fan favorite heavyweight Dave “Pay me” Yost against heavyweight slugger Boban Simic from Chicago. In his last appearance at AOF 14, Yost knocked out a much larger and more experienced fighter in the first round. Yost also bloodied up Mike Greeson at AOF 12 in Tampa throwing a series of uppercuts, lacerating his opponent’s face in a two round TKO victory. Simic looks to establish himself in the AOF Heavyweight ranks by defeating Yost.

In the co-main event. returning fighters Koa Ramos and Jesse Lawrence face-off. Jacksonville native Jesse Lawrence put on an impressive performance in his last home town defense against American Top Team’s Tony Sousa. Being outweighed by 15 pounds, Lawrence had no hesitation in taking the fight (after a purse deduction on Sousa’s behalf). Lawrence was victorious in an all-out battle that resulted in a third round victory. Koa Ramos’ first AOF appearance was against the AOF welterweight champion Raul Amaya. Ramos landed a roundhouse kick to Amaya’s chest that has been used in a lot of AOF highlight reels. Lawrence versus Ramos will be a phenomenal match-up of two well-rounded opponents.

Returning AOF fighter Maurice Salmon looks to battle Tampa native Jay Beharry in a welterweight battle. Both fighters are equally matched in experience, height, weight, reach and technical ability. “This fight is very evenly matched, which usually means the fans win.” quotes matchmaker Nick Smith. Both fighters also share a victory over welterweight Jack Mounce of Jacksonville.

Heavyweight Terry “Polar Bear” Blackburn looks to slug his way through former boxer and undefeated fighter Bruce Bellochi and Jacksonville firefighter Josh Montoro drops to welterweight on May 11th in his AOF debut.
