Comments

Raymond DeGeorge of Treasure Island, Fla., advises: "Use good-quality vodka. For a real treat, substitute Grand Marnier for the vodka." Other enhancements DeGeorge recommends include sauteing a large chopped sweet onion before adding the tomatoes, and for carnivores, serving a pan-fried hot Italian sausage on the side. I think using some of the flavored vodkas could make a great variation as well. For added flavor, saute in olive oil.-- Jeanne Besser
