The Seahawks entered the game with a depleted offensive line, and the reserves had no answer for J.J. Watt and Houston's ferocious line. The Texans threatened early on, but the Seahawks got lucky with another tipped interception in the redzone. They turned that opportunity into a field goal, the only points scored in the first quarter.
The Texans poured it on in the second quarter. Matt Schaub split Seattle's defense at the start of the second quarter, nailing a wide open Garrett Graham for a 31-yard touchdown. Arian Foster added to the lead with a five-yard score, and the team capitalized on a Marshawn Lynch fumble to get a field goal. They added another one before the half and went into the locker room up, 20-3.
The Seahawks offense was anemic all day, failing to record a first down until the third quarter. From there, they found a spark, scoring 17 unanswered points. They finally found the endzone in the fourth quarter, when a Lynch touchdown cut the deficit to seven points. After a Wilson interception to Johnathan Joseph with just over five minutes to go, Schaub threw a 58-yard pick six to Richard Sherman to tie the game up. The Texans' last-minute drive came up short, sending the game to overtime.
Houston got the ball first in extra time, but neither team managed to score on their first possession, making it a sudden death scenario. The Seahawks benefited from a personal foul penalty by Houston, putting them in field goal range. Steven Hauschka kicked a 45-yarder to complete the epic comeback and seal the win.
Matt Schaub picked apart the Seahawks defense, throwing for 355 yards and two touchdowns. The interceptions were crucial to the game, though. Andre Johnson had another huge fantasy day, grabbing nine catches for 110 yards.
Defensive lineman Michael Bennett had a scary injury at the end of the second half. Bennett was bent backwards and lay on the turf for several minutes. He was loaded onto a stretcher and taken to the hospital as players from both teams gathered in prayer. Bennett is moving and has feeling in his extremities. The team is calling it a lower back injury.
Linebacker K.J. Wright briefly left with a shoulder injury but came back into the game. Linebacker Brian Cushing suffered a concussion and left the game.
The Seahawks opened as one point favorites and managed to cover with the overtime field goal.
