This event is all ages Andrew W.K. WebsiteMySpaceFacebookLinks Andrew W.K.'s true will is to create feelings of pure joy, true fun, total love, endless freedom, and infinite possibility. He strives to reach as many people as possible, using music, performance, visual art, lecturing, writing, nightclubs, television, and other methods. Born in California in 1979, Andrew W.K. is a multi-faceted musician and performer. Starting his musical career at age 4 with classical piano lessons, then exploring experimental and avant garde interests, he went on to create his own extremely high-energy rock 'n' roll music. His father, James E. Krier, is a Law Professor at the University of Michigan, and Andrew grew up in the open-minded Midwestern city of Ann Arbor. After having been accepted to The Art Institute of Chicago, Andrew decided to bypass college and moved to New York City at age 18 to pursue art and music on his own. With the release of his first full-length album in 2001 - the controversial, "I Get Wet" - Andrew was quickly recognized not only as a powerful musical performer, but also as an exhilarating and positive role-model for a new generation. Using his feel-good abilities, Andrew expanded his work to include self-help T.V. shows on MTV and VH1, motivational speeches at Yale, New York University, The Cooper Union School, and Carnegie Mellon, and a monthly advice column in Japan. While he continued to record and release his own music, he also began producing musical recordings for other artists, including the Grammy Award nominated album for reggae music legend, Lee "Scratch" Perry. In 2008, Andrew and his friends opened a downtown Manhattan music venue and nightclub called, Santos Party House - the club won numerous awards in its first year. In 2009, Andrew began his own record label, SKYSCRAPER MUSIC MAKER, and began hosting his own TV show on Cartoon Network, "DESTROY BUILD DESTROY". Due to the variety of his pursuits, Andrew has been able to establish himself as someone appreciated by diverse range of people. As Andrew continues to push the boundaries of performance - and his own life - he brings into play ideas of perception, philosophy, and happiness - all the while creating truly joyous experiences for his audience. Andrew lives in Manhattan, New York City. $20.00 - $35.00
